Strike receivers
The strike receiver forms the interface between crystallisation and centrifugation. It serves as a holding tank for massecuite produced in batch pans (e.g. DVK) or vertical continuous pans (e.g. VKT) and separates the crystallisation process from downstream steps such as centrifugation, drying or melting.
Through continuous homogenisation of the crystal suspension, the strike receiver supports a stable process and creates defined conditions for the downstream centrifugals.
Functions
In batch crystallisation, massecuite is discharged at the end of pan boiling and directly into the strike receiver, where it remains until it is processed further in the centrifugals. In a continuous process using a vertical continuous pan such as the VKT, massecuite is discharged using a massecuite pump and held in a strike receiver to separate the process steps.
The crystal suspension is kept in continuous motion by an agitator.
Automation
Strike receivers are suitable for integration with a modern process control and automation system. Their filling level is monitored continuously and can be included in a higher-level process control strategy. This helps reduce process fluctuations and ensures more consistent capacity use of downstream stations such as centrifugation, drying or melting.

Model sizes / variants / customisation
Strike receivers from BMA are designed as cylindrical troughs, with diameters ranging from 1,500 to 4,000 mm. They are available for volumes from 9 to 111 m³ as standard. To accommodate a customer’s specific capacity requirements or the space available for installation, the length can be varied from 6,000 to 10,000 mm, without any impact on the basic functional characteristics.
