For Jingjin Sugar: BMA supplies sugar drying and cooling plant

Solution to ensure sugar quality

The so-called Capital Circle of China, an area comprising Beijing and Tianjin and Hebei provinces, has a population of 113 million. Jingjin Sugar, a sugar refinery based in the area, ensures its supply with sugar. BMA is building a sugar cooling and drying plant for this customer.

Chinese sugar industry has ambitious targets

In China, arable land for growing sugar cane and beet has shrunk in recent years, partly because of a shift to other crops and partly because of urbanisation. Today, the PRC is competing with Indonesia for the title of the world’s largest sugar importer. Official figures show a new import record of 6.33m tons for China for the period October 2020 to September 2021 – 3.76m tons more than the previous year.

This considerable increase is in part due to a more efficient use of existing capacities in Chinese refineries. It is also an indication of the sugar industry’s new targets: to improve quality, increase throughput, and enable energy-saving operation with constant availability of raw materials.

Sugar drying and cooling plant from BMA for Jingjin Sugar

On 4 November 2021, BMA China secured a contract from Jingjin Sugar for the supply of a sugar drying and cooling solution that will ensure the quality of the refinery’s final product. Jingjin Sugar has a processing capacity of 1,000 tpd. BMA China, the team at BMA Germany and all partners will collaborate closely to complete the drum dryer and cooler with a 45 t/h throughput and all ancillary equipment.

Sugar drying and cooling plant: engineering, equipment, services

The project scope includes the engineering, equipment and digital products and services. For BMA, the supply and turnkey implementation of this sugar drying and cooling plant by its Chinese subsidiary is a real milestone. We look forward to delivering project success, and to our continued role in advancing the growth of the Chinese sugar industry.
